Key to Life’s Mission with Soul of An Addict

Since Key’s inception in the late seventies, it has always been a progressive spiritual organization, never bowing down to the pressure of conformity to traditional religious principals.  Marion, my mother, and Key’s mother and original minister, lead Key through much spiritual evolution.  The founding principals of Key to Life Center are perfect principals to help guide addicts and alcoholics out of their emotional and religious darkness, into an inspiring inner place of spiritual enlightenment.

Why does spirituality matter in the life of an addict, or in the life of someone who is involved in the life of an addict?

True spiritual awareness creates an empowering knowledge that can help us overcome addiction.  Key’s mission to reach out to addicts and those who are in relationships with addicts isn’t religious, it’s spiritual, and there is a difference.

Since we teach very diverse principals ranging from mystical Christianity to simple Native American philosophy, we don’t have any agenda to convert ANYONE to any particular belief system.  If we can inspire someone to find their connection with spirituality, and their definition of a higher power, or God, or however they want to define it, then we believe we have succeeded in empowering a person spiritually.

The most powerful part of Key’s Soul of an Addict mission is what we call Spiritual empowerment.  The focus of the Soul of an Addict Sundays will be Spiritual empowerment.

The Seven Spiritual Steps to Sobriety

The Seven Spiritual Steps to Sobriety is the foundation of Soul of an Addict.  We consider these steps spiritual, which does not necessarily mean religious. Although the steps were created with addiction and codependency in mind, they are life principals that can truly empower anyone with the ability to make long and lasting changes in their life.

Step 1 - To admit that I have an addiction and to humbly recognize the power it has over my life.

Step 2 - To accept responsibility for my own life, regardless of how I got here.

Step 3 - To seek the help I need to become empowered to conquer my addiction.

Step 4 - To consciously surrender the negativity of my past and create a spiritual life plan focused on a positive future.

Step 5 - To develop a relationship with my Spiritual Self by connecting with my Third Voice, the voice of my soul.

Step 6 - To honor my sobriety by realizing I have the power to choose, and I choose to have the courage to abstain from cross-addiction.

Step 7 - To make a positive difference in the world by sharing, with humility, the wisdom I have gained through my spiritual sobriety.

The 7 steps, and the philosophy behind the steps, and how to implement them in your life, are contained in a manuscript called "The Soul of an Addict" and the "7 Spiritual Steps to Sobriety."   The manuscript is a rough draft that has been proof read, and is now in the final stages of editing before the publishing goal of December 2010.   The manuscript is available for a suggested donation of $15.00. All proceeds from the donations are returned to the "Soul of an Addict" spiritual recovery project.   The Manuscript offers a practical approach to working what we call a "spiritual recovery program." We know, in time, it undoubtedly will be altered prior to publishing. We hope you will enjoy it exactly as it is :)    More information will be made available on this website shortly, otherwise, please contact Lenni for more information at either keytolifecenter@aol.com.
